devasted to so belatedly here that graham is no longer with us. moved to scotland in 2005 and missed the regular opportunities to share a mutual love of all beverages. even in 2010 graham would have been my first choice to learn more about tea coffee or delicious chocolate, so sad that such a lovely warm generous man has left us too soon. thanks for your inspiration and knowledge lesley

I knew Graham very briefly when working in Virgin Megastores in Nottingham a long time ago. He visited, sometimes weekly to ask me if i could recommend any new music for his General Store, he told me about his business and then i knew what kind of music would suit his customer base. I talked to him about starting my own business, which i did 2 years ago. Even although i did not know him very well he still encouraged me to start my own business. He was a lovely man and full of great conversation. Even when i stopped working there i've never forgot his encouragement. He will be sadly missed.

Thanks Graham

I stumbled into the General store one windy, wet day and experieneced my first "proper" hot chocolate, with the necessary education and brilliant chat with Graham. He made an impact on me and from then on friends and I would find every possible free time to visit 'Mr Chocolate'. He always extended such a warm and genuine welcome. I will miss him.
Thank you Graham,
Lin, Andy and Ned

We run the trade magazine for coffee houses, and we liked him very much. I have great memories of him serving me a Russian Caravan, and explaining his preferred ways of making hot chocolate. Thanks, Graham

I was so saddened to hear of Graham's demise. I had many a nice chat with him about teas and coffees and will dearly miss relaxing in Sherwood on a weekend. There was no other place like it and there is no other man like Graham. I've heard on the grapevine that something similar will be opening in Hockley in town though. Let's hope it can live up to The General Store and we will have somewhere to buy our teas and coffees!

For now though, all my best wishes to Graham's friends and family, my thoughts are with you.

God Bless, Denise. Xxx

I was so sorry when Graham fell ill and General Store closed, and am sorrier still to hear of his passing. Graham's friendliness and kindness meant a lot when I first moved to Sherwood from Scotland. I used to love going in and being encouraged into trying yet another kind of coffee. You always felt that every single thing in the shop had been chosen with great care and knew that Graham would be able to tell you all about it. Special thanks for the raspberry leaf tea when trying to hasten the arrival of my daughter (he did warn me it didn't taste that nice!). I miss Graham and the shop very much.

With condolences and all good wishes to his family at this time.

Loved the General Store; it bore the mark of the man behind it, full of love and enthusiasm for the products.

I didn't visit enough, but when I did Graham always took time to steer me through the vast range of coffee on offer to find the best one for me. Particularly remember when my two-year old wanted to play cricket down one of the narrow aisles. No problem for Graham, he offered plenty of encouragement!

Condolences and best wishes to Graham's family and friends. Hopefully the messages left here will go some small way towards helping you through the grief.

We have just heard the news of Graham's passing and we are so sad. We met Graham a few years back when he supplied our farm shop with his wonderful coffee. It was always a pleasure to do business with Graham and we are proud to say he became a friend. He was an inspirational guy who had a huge heart and beautiful soul. He had such ambition for us and our business and was always sharing his ideas. When I last saw Graham he had lots of plans for the future and was so full of life. We can't believe he's gone. Our condolences to Cherry and the family.

I first 'met' Graham via his radio shows loved his humour and his calm manner on the radio. Then in later years I met him in person via Cherry. Later still in the General store. What a lovely man, so sad to be taken so early. Cherry, Matthew and Paul my thoughts are very much with you. He will be sadly missed

Very sorry to hear the sad news of Grahams passing.
He always appeared cheerful even when obviously suffering, and had an up beat outgoing manner. He always had time for a chat whether in the store or by a chance meeting in the street. He will be sadly by us both, as I am sure he is by his family.
Bon Voyage Graham.
